Lost a Cat in Hamilton - here's what to do, how to search, and who to contact

1.  Start searching immediately - look carefully inside and around the house, talk with neighbours, knock on doors, leave fliers, and don't give up! For quick (and crucial) pet search tips, click here.

2.   If your pet is micro-chipped, be sure to verify your contact information with the microchip company. Lots of lost cats are reunited with owners because they are microchipped. But microchips work only if the contact information is up-to-date!

3.   Connect with the local Facebook group: Lost and Found Pets in Hamilton Ontario. They share posts of lost and found pets and most local rescue groups check (and post) there as do many Hamiltonians. Very often lost cats are getting back home safely because their owners have connected with this group.

4.   Make effective use of Helping Lost Pets (HLP). It's FREE and IT  WORKS; so, list your pet there as LOST, get into the habit of checking there to see if anyone reports your cat FOUND and be sure to check the site for advice, tips and other helopful links. Because HAS posts all animals brought in to their shelter on HLP, also keep a close eye on their frequently updated list .
